Please join us for an opening reception to celebrate the art of Irma Makariunaite. A mixed media artist, Irma seeks inspiration from the materials that she uses in her artwork. She embeds fragments of hand-written letters that were sent to her from her grandparents upon her immigration to Canada. She also integrates her own childhood drawings – lovingly preserved by her grandmother – in between the layers of acrylic. What could be better on a cold winter day than making and eating fluffy, melt in your mouth perogies? Join us at the museum and learn how to make this traditional Ukrainian delicacy. Participants will make a dozen sweet – not savory – perogies to take home, and sample many different flavours as they roll, cut, and stuff these little bites of potato perfection. All materials will be provided.
